Today I blinked while having my student ID photo taken, and the man behind the camera got very upset and made me sit in a chair behind him. He sent a half dozen students in after me, shuffling, to have their photos taken. They all kept their eyes open through the flash. They assumed more paperwork or registration had to be done after the photo at the sight of me still sitting in a chair. "Am I all done?" "Do I have to wait here longer?"

I had been been waiting for maybe a half an hour with dozens of other students to get this photo taken. After blinking and throughout sitting in a chair to watch better trained students stare at the flash, I asked the ID photographer when I could have another try. The man ignored me until the print-out of my blinking ID came out of his machine. "Yes, you blinked," he said.

Finally he motioned me back to the sit in front of the camera.  "Look at me, up here, not at the lens," he said. I didn’t blink. A girl with a birth mark on her chin congratulated me on not blinking. I couldn’t actually tell if she was being snide.

I will get by AUC ID card in a few days now.
